Weekly Update - Week of 4/1/2024

Good afternoon everyone,

I pray you had a blessed Easter celebration! I was hoping the snow that started coming down was an April Fool's joke, but it looks like it will stick around for a couple of days.

Here is your weekly update:

-Church Service Changes

As you may have seen on Facebook (or in person if you were helping), our church sanctuary has been completely emptied out and is ready for construction to begin! Consequently, worship will be changing beginning on Saturday this week. All worship services (Saturdays at 5:15 and Sundays at 8:00/10:30) will take place in the school Commons. Monday night services have been suspended for the time being. This also means that beginning next week (4/8), all students will be eating lunch in their classrooms for the duration of the renovation. Hot lunch will still be available, as will microwaves for reheating food from home. You will also still be able to enter the Commons for pick-up as normal, but you will see rows of chairs instead of benches and tables. You will also see the stage set up for worship, so please keep children off the stage when you pick them up. We hope to see many of you continue to worship with us while we "camp out in the Commons" for a few months!

-School Health Update

Prior to Easter Break, we still had a few cases of stubborn strep throat hanging around. If your child has symptoms and tests positive for strep, you may want to let your doctor know that his/her school currently has a strain that seems to be resistant to frontline antibiotics. That may save you an extra headache if they skip right to something stronger right away.

-Call Update

Mr. Luke Zeamer continues to deliberate the Call extended to him by Emanuel to teach 4th grade next year. Please keep his family in your prayers!

-Teacher Farewell in May

We will be saying "farewell" to two of our teachers at the end of this school year. Miss Julia Behm (kindergarten) will be transitioning into public school teaching, and Mrs. Abby Zuberbier (Guided Studies) will be moving to the Twin Cities in Minnesota to start a new Call at St. Croix Lutheran Academy. We wish them God's blessings, and to that end, will have a special "farewell" on Sunday, May 19, during the 8:00 service. Cupcakes will be served after the service, and boxes will be available if anyone would like to give them words of encouragement or farewell gifts.

-Prayers Requested

Please keep a few of our Emanuel teachers/students in your prayers:

  • Mrs. Abby Zuberbier recently had significant surgery on her ankle/foot and faces an extended recovery;
  • Jada (3K) recently returned home after having liver transplant surgery;
  • Lily (2nd grade) is continuing to receive cancer treatments.

-Lost and Found (soon to be lost forever!)

The Lost and Found items are accumulating very quickly! Please take a look at the items on the table and have your child see if any of the items are theirs. On April 5th the Lost and Found table will be cleared off and all items remaining will be gone.

As always, do not hesitate to contact me with ideas/questions/concerns regarding your school; have a blessed rest of this snowy day!

In Christ,
Bill Fuerstenau, Principal
