Weekly Update - Week of 3/18/2024

Good morning everyone,

Welcome back to school, and happy St. Patrick's Day; hopefully, you had a chance to look past the secular celebrations and catch a glimpse of the dedicated evangelist that Patrick truly was in Ireland.

Here is your update for the coming week, which will quickly be followed by a short week for Easter.

-Important Dates

-School Health Update

I have already heard from a few families whose children continue to struggle with an unusually stubborn and severe strain of strep throat. On top of that, the warming weather has kickstarted seasonal allergies earlier than usual, so don't be surprised if you start to see increased coughing and sneezing. I pray that the week apart has helped to better the overall health of our staff and student body.

-Butter Braid Order Forms Due

Thank you to everyone who has worked to sell Butter Braids online; you do not need to do anything more with those orders. However, if you have paper order forms and payments (cash or checks made out to "Emanuel Lutheran School"), those must be turned in by the end of the school day, March 18. Bring them directly to the school office. After we have entered all the paper orders, we will declare the two winning family units for the prize baskets and will have more information for you regarding pick-up.

-End of the 3rd Quarter

The 3rd quarter ends this week on Friday, March 22. Report cards will be released on Sunday, March 31, at 8:00 pm. If you have questions regarding your child's grades, make sure you contact your classroom teacher.

-Easter JAM on Saturday

We are so excited to welcome all children ages 0-5, along with their grown-ups, to our campus on Saturday, March 23, for Easter JAM! We will begin at 9:00 and will enjoy Jesus time, active play in the gym, and making crafts that help us remember our risen Savior, Jesus. If you have any children ages 0-5, please consider joining us and inviting your friends and neighbors, too!

-Divine Call Update

Thank you to everyone who contacted me regarding the Call I received to be principal at St. John's in Baraboo, WI. I have decided to return that Call and remain as principal at Emanuel. I look forward to continuing to serve alongside all of you to God's glory!

-Easter Worship Opportunities

Of all the church celebrations, Holy Week and Easter are among the most highly regarded and joyous in our church body. You are strongly encouraged to join the rest of the Emanuel family for our many worship opportunities:

  • Wednesday (3/20) at 3:30/7:00 (final midweek Lenten service)
  • Saturday (3/23) at 5:15, Sunday (3/24) at 8:00/10:30, Monday (3/25) at 6:30 for Palm Sunday worship
  • Thursday (3/28) at 3:30/7:00 for Holy Thursday worship
  • Friday (3/29) at 9:30/1:00 for Good Friday worship, or 7:00 for Good Friday Tenebrae worship
  • NO CHURCH ON SATURDAY, 3/30
  • Sunday (3/31) at 6:00 for Easter Sunrise worship, or 8:00/10:30 for Easter Festival worship

We will also have an Easter breakfast at 7:00, following the Sunrise service, in the school Commons. We hope to see all of you join us in celebrating our risen Savior throughout Holy Week. This is why Emanuel exists and why you send your children to learn with us, so join in that process with your entire family!

-Hot Lunch Update

The lunch menu until the end of the school year is updated on the Google Calendar and a printable version is available under LINKS on Fast Direct. All students will come home with a double-sided calendar with both the April & May lunch menus. An Easter lunch will be provided to all students, free of charge, on Wednesday, March 27. The last day of school picnic lunch is also free for all students!

I pray you are all ready for the crazy sprint from now to the end of the school year. It is always a hectic time, but a time that we cherish together in the Word of God at Emanuel. May he continue to bless you during this Easter season and beyond!

In Christ, Bill Fuerstenau, Principal
