Weekly Update - Week of 1/8/2024

Good evening everyone,

I apologize for how late this is coming out; time got away from me this weekend! Please find your update for the upcoming week below.

-Tiger Cub Care Sign-up

It's a sign-up week! Please enter all the care you will need for the weeks of January 15-26. Please note there is no bus on Friday, January 19.

-School Health

Flu season has officially begun as we've had our first confirmed cases of influenza. Continue to keep an eye out for flu-like symptoms, and make sure to keep your children home until they are fever-free for an entire 24-hour period with no medication. The other illnesses seem to have lessened over Christmas break, but we'll keep an eye out for anything else in the days ahead.

-End of the Quarter

The end of the 2nd quarter is upon us! Friday is the day, so be sure to head onto Fast Direct to see if your child is missing any assignments. We are postponing report card release for a week, so they will have this entire week and the week of January 15 to work with their teachers on missing work. Report cards will be released in the evening on Sunday, January 21. The end of the quarter also means that the lost and found table, located outside the school office, will be cleared and items donated shortly, so be sure to check that for missing clothing items.

-Enrollment for 24/25 School Year

Thank you for your prompt work re-enrolling for next school year; nearly everyone has completed that task! Enrollment for families new to Emanuel will open on January 9.

-Winter Weather Closings

Winter has finally decided to show up, and we are expecting a measurable snowfall of some kind Monday night into Tuesday. While the chances this storm will cause a disruption in school seem to be slim, it is a good opportunity to remind you of the ways you can check for closings. In the event of a late start or full day closing, you will receive a message on Fast Direct. Closings will also be posted on WBAY, which is linked below, and on our Facebook page. In addition, if you see that the New London Public Schools are delayed or closed anywhere else, Emanuel will follow their lead. In the unlikely event that we ever need to call an early release due to impending weather, you will receive a Fast Direct message and a phone call directly from the school office.

-Message from PreK

5-8th grades, forensics is ready to begin! This is a great opportunity to practice public speaking, learn how to work as a team, and grow responsibility. The team is coached by Mrs. D, Miss Ladwig (retired Emanuel Teacher), and Mrs. Stern (retired teacher). Please return the permission form by January 12th if your child is interested.

In Christ,
