Principal's Weekly Update 1/1-1/7

Good morning everyone, and happy New Year! I pray you have enjoyed all of the festivities the holiday season brings, especially celebrating the birth of our Savior with your family and friends.

It's time to get back into the swing of things, so please see the following update for the short week ahead.

-Important Dates

-School Health Update
When we left for break, we were still struggling with respiratory viruses (RSV, Strep, COVID) and a stomach virus here or there. Our hope is that the time away from school has given everyone a chance to reset their immune systems. We will see what is still lingering over the next few days and report to you this coming weekend.

-24/25 Enrollment
If you have not re-enrolled your students for next year yet, please do so ASAP! Classes are filling up, and having an accurate enrollment number as soon as possible gives us a better idea of what we need as we begin the budgeting process at Emanuel. Please find your children on your Fast Direct home page, select "yes" or "no" for 2024-2025, and click "Submit" for each child. If you need assistance, please contact the Emanuel school office.

-Christmas Service Success
Thank you SO much to all of you for making our children's Christmas service a priority during a busy time of year! I have received countless compliments regarding how the children shared the message of Jesus. I also would like to especially thank our school teachers and staff for the work they put in preparing for the services, as well as our School Board for feeding everyone and putting together the treat bags. We have some ideas for making that day even better, and we'll share those with you for your input as we unpack from this year.

-Installation of New Teacher
As you have all heard by now, God has seen fit to bless us with a new teacher! Ms. Ruth Gehring graduated from Martin Luther College last month and will be joining our staff beginning tomorrow. She will be in our first-grade classroom. An installation will take place during the 8:00 worship service this coming Sunday, January 7, followed by a cupcake reception in the narthex. If you would like to meet Ms. Gehring and welcome her to our Emanuel family, please plan to attend.

-Lost and Found (Soon Lost Forever!)
The lost and found table is filling up quickly with winter apparel items. If your child is missing any items, please remind them to stop at the lost and found table. The lost and found table will be available right outside the office and we encourage everyone to take a look as you pass by. We are coming up on the end of the 2nd Quarter, when all items will be removed and donated.

-Note from 2nd Grade
Congratulations to the second grade for winning the "Judges Favorite" prize in the Thern Farm Gingerbread Contest. Thank you to all the parents who donated time and materials to help us with our Emanuel Church and Village. What a success! Please see the picture attached to this message.

As we enter a new year and approach the halfway point of our school year, I pray that God continues to richly bless you and your families. Continue to keep your school in your prayers as well.

In Christ,
Bill Fuerstenau, Principal
