Coming This Weekend: The Epiphany of our Lord - Jesus Appears as the Savior of All Nations

Ever had an ‘epiphany?’ It’s a word we use to describe a bright idea. The word means to make a sudden appearance, and when we’ve discovered something particularly important, we’ve “had an epiphany.” Today, we look at the story of when Jesus made a striking appearance in the lives of some noteworthy gentiles: the famous “magi from the East.” Today, we enjoy the fact that Jesus has appeared for all people to know and worship.

With the new calendar year, we begin a new season of the church year, the Epiphany season. On each weekend from now until the beginning of Lent, we’ll see more and more of Jesus’ power and importance revealed. With the wise men, we’ll begin by searching for him, but in the weeks to come, his true light will dawn on us again and again. We’ll stand as witnesses to his baptism, we’ll marvel at his miracles and teaching, and finally, we’ll see him transfigured in all his glory as God’s Son.
